Celebrating 40 Years of Piping
NVUP, the Dutch Uilleann Pipers Club, was founded in the mid-1980s by a small group of pipers looking to connect and share their passion. Now, 40 years later, the club continues to bring together players from the Netherlands and beyond through its annual Tionól—a weekend of music, learning, and community for Uilleann pipers of all levels.

We're happy to announce that David Power will be the guest piper at the 2025 Tionól of the Dutch Uilleann Pipers Club.
David Power is a highly respected uilleann piper, known for his lyrical, masterful playing. He studied with Tommy Kearney, Jimmy O’Brien-Moran, and Ronan Browne, and was strongly influenced by Seamus Ennis and Tommy Reck.
He won both the Senior All-Ireland and Oireachtas piping titles in 1992, and represented Ireland at the Lorient Interceltic Festival. In the 1990s, he toured with Liam Clancy’s Fairweather Band and with Gorumna across Europe and Asia.
David has released several solo albums, including My Love is in America, Cuachín Ghleann Neifín, and The Eighteen Moloney. He also produced a major recording and biography of his former teacher Tommy Kearney.
After moving to the U.S. in 2003, he composed and performed for Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, including A Touch of the Poet with Gabriel Byrne. He has performed internationally with The Frost is All Over and with the trio Pipers Union.
In 2013, he was invited to perform in Glaoch, President Michael D. Higgins’ global St. Patrick’s Day celebration from Áras an Uachtaráin.
